Capitalism

I'm inclined to agree with Naomi Klein, the Canadian writer of "No Logo" fame who continually rails against the excesses of Capitalism. In her latest effort, "This Changes Everything - Capitalism vs. The Climate", she again beats the drum that corporate capitalistic corruption and greed is what's at the bottom of much of our world conflagrations and makes a strong argument that our current climate crisis is due to economic factors, driven by corporate interventions that have turned our delicately balanced ecosystem into a toxic playground for international corporate hucksters.
“our economic system and our planetary system are now at war. Or, more accurately, our economy is at war with many forms of life on earth, including human life. What the climate needs to avoid collapse is a contraction in humanity’s use of resources; what our economic model demands to avoid collapse is unfettered expansion. Only one of these sets of rules can be changed, and it’s not the laws of nature.”
Change rarely comes through sound reasoning, foresight, and lessons learned from history. Instead, we seem to require a catalyst of sorts to shock us into making sound moves, which we then do reluctantly.
Time does not seem to be our friend. We are running out of it and haven't learned much from it. I worry. Excessively.

Capitalism

Our dalliance
More than dalliance
Likely obsession
More than likely
Our addiction
All the time
All money
Oily words
Oil wars
Drug wars
Drug Words
MONEY
WORDS
DEEDS
ALL
THE
TIME
MONEY
All money
All the time.

Oh, Orangutan - A Rap by DJ TazzieDog

Fires are raging
Chasing the precious few
New to extinction
And resource depletion
Clear cut destruction
The fuckers just fucked ‘em
Running for cover
No safe zones, they hover
In branches, the grime
The soot from the crime of
Such conflagration and desecration
Corporate greed, the seed
The need to decimate trees
To oil their palms
With palm oil balms
Monoculture, the vultures
Deforest the soil, circling the toil
That mucks up the air
And fucks up this fair planet
We all share
Stare long and hard
At the label, boycott palm oil
Soiled with the stain
Of blood, anguish, pain
Oh,Orangutan

Refugeehadi - A Rap by DJ TazzieDog

Boots on the ground
The mantra of pitch
The cliche resounds in perception
Let’s ditch all reasonable thoughts
And march to the fear that’s
Grinding us all to a near fever pitch
Jihadists in droves wash in with the tide
Riding the wave of dear Allah’s praise
Raise the kalishnikovs mightily high
The whole lot of them are readying to die
Mosques are replete with
Bomb wearing freaks
Check out those chicas in hajibs
Complete with detonating breasts
Of mass disruption
Our induction into the
Flag waving, face saving, fear making
Production, staged by the MAN
With the shifty eyed glare
Who stares at opportunity
Feigning national unity

We’re stooges, you see,
Heeding the call to blind, lady Liberty
While blinding us all.
